Things have gotten better – or at least easier – to do that.
If you have a smart phone search your app store – available free on both Apple and Android – for the PrayerMate app developed by Andy Geers. Click Here to learn more about PrayerMate from Andy himself.
Once on my smart phone, PrayerMate allows me to subscribe to Scotty Smith’s Heavenward posts and updates them automagically each day. Once set up, I just open the app, read and pray.
Once the app is installed, tap on the gear button in the top right of your Apple screen (I’m hoping it’s similar for you Android users, but iPhone is all I have.) That gets you to the “Settings” page. Swipe down to and then tap “Subscribe to online feeds” to get to the “Feed Gallery” page. Swipe down to and tap the “Devotional” list, and there you have it Heavenward by Scotty Smith: Setting our minds on things above. Tap into that, then swipe down and tap “Subscribe to this feed.”
What would your life be like if you stopped whatever else you are doing for 3-5 minutes and prayed with Scotty Smith? What would you gain if you replaced 5 minutes of texting or FaceBook with prayer? So you get home 5 minutes later because you stopped in a parking lot to use this to pray before you got home. Would you interact with your spouse and kids differently? Do you really benefit from getting to another level in Candy Crush?? Think of the possibilities in your own setting.
There is much, much more that you can do with PrayerMate. I use it to organize my personal prayer lists. I use the Operation World feed to learn and pray for missions around the world. I even share a daily prayer focus related to life at Christ Covenant (Settings --> Subscribe to online feeds --> Churches --> US Churches --> Christ Covenant).
But for the Scotty Smith prayer feed alone, I’d say PrayerMate is worth getting and using.
